Y3 - 1 1907 London 'E' Class Tramcar
Issued 1956 Scale - 1:130
| The last of
the first 3 issues released at Harrogate. The first version had the small
opening under the stairs fully open (1 & 4) but in time this gradually filled
in (5).
There was also an opening to the upper deck but again this was filled in
eventually.
First run issues had the cow catchers in a single thickness (1, 2 & 3) but this had a brace added to the rear for strength very shortly after release. The base was normally in black with either grenodised or black wheels (6 & 7) but a short run had the whole base painted in grey (2 & 3) which are considered very rare. The cow catchers were always painted grey except for a last run in pure white(8). The roof can be either cream or white and the single headlamp may be either silver or gold. The D1 box is interesting as it came in two separate versions, a side on view or an angled view and both can be seen below. |
