THE COLLECTIBLES ERA

As seen in the previous Yesteryear list page this was as far as the single designation 'Y' number went. After this (in Australia where it started) the models were issued under a mail order scheme at first. This spread to other countries and then it reverted back to 'Collectible  Centres', model shops now allowed to sell Matchbox models again, but this didn't last very long and the line came basically to an end.

You will find most of these models placed into neat little sets as our American brothers at Mattel all think we like to collect sets like them.

After this models which had been issued by the various Matchbox clubs around the world as Code 2 versions were the only Yesteryears being issued as Mattel had now basically ceased production of the range. 

(They run in numerical order which is strange at first to understand but a bit easier than date order, and I will add photos as I do them. I have not added the variations on these models as most are insignificant relating to position of a base number tampo or cast in and a few minor differences). Most of these were issued in sets of 6 models so if 30 models then they were 5 sets. There are some special releases thrown in certain sets that were single releases only.

I have only shown those with 'Models of Yesteryear' bases - I have not included models with the 'Dinky' base.
